Age 3

At Nottinghill our overall goal is to meet every child’s individual needs by being sensitive to each child’s personality and growth development. Children have the opportunity to learn through play with a variety of play areas to support learning. Nottinghill’s year-end goal is for your child to develop their self-esteem and confidence to equip them for their future education. Children at Nottinghill do NOT have to be toilet trained to participate in our programs.

Programs: Nottinghill has two classes for 3 year-old children. The first class, referred to as our 3AM class, is available on M/W/F from 9-11:30am. The second class, referred to as our 3PM class, is available Monday-Thursday from 12:45-3:15pm. Children who will be 3 years old by December 31st of any given year are eligible for these programs.

Classrooms: Nottinghill has two spacious classrooms, an outdoor playground and access to a gymnasium that provide children with many areas to explore both their fine and gross motor skills. Classrooms include sand and water tables, craft centres, cozy reading centres and a lot of educational toys and puzzles.

Learning Focus: Throughout the year Nottinghill focuses on teaching children self help skills, social interactions, language and cognitive learning. Children review the calendar each class day and participate in educational circles based on weekly themes. A variety of creative activities, also based on weekly themes, give children the opportunity to explore fine motor skills. Letter and number recognition are taught through a variety of hands on learning tools and children are introduced to Jolly Phonics.

Jolly Phonics: Our 3 year old classes are introduced to Jolly Phonics, which is a fun and child centered approach to teaching literacy through phonics. With actions for each of the letter sounds, the multi-sensory method is very motivating for children.

Ratios: Our 3AM classes have two qualified staff members with a maximum of 16 children participating. In addition Nottinghill’s 3AM class benefits from the participation of duty parents in the classroom. Our 3PM class has two qualified staff members with a maximum of 12 children. Nottinghill’s 3PM program does not have duty parent participation but parents are always welcome to volunteer in our classrooms!

Extra-Curricular: Nottinghill enhances its program by offering outside programming such as multi-sport and Kindermusik as well as a fun-filled field trip to Springridge Farm.
